'We Are Not Interested in Changing the Mind of The Student.
We are Interested in Opening Hearts, for the Heart is where
the vibratory voice of God Springs forth.'
Welcome to the University of Spirituality.
The University of Spirituality is a proponent of positive change
in a world that has largely forgotten its roots. We seek to advance
spirituality oriented education to enlighten and encourage prospective
students to learn what the basic fundamentals of life experience
are all about. Through a combination of prayer, meditation, spiritually
oriented exercises and a lengthy study of the ‘self,’
memories are sparked and the spiritual essence of the individual
slowly reveals itself. The framework for this endeavor is already
housed in the individual soul. Our task is to help bring out what
is already there.
It has long been told that the great mission of The Christ is to
bring the Kingdom of Heaven into physical manifestation here upon
the Earth. The Christ and His disciples need the help of humanity
to accomplish this monumental task. This is where the University
of Spirituality comes into play. After all, what benefit would the
Kingdom of Heaven be if humanity did not participate in the myriad
of tasks necessary to prepare the way.
Bringing about positive and peaceful change in the
world is a collaborative effort that occurs slowly one step at a
time with each individual. If you are interested in finding a peaceful
awareness within yourself. If you are interested in better understanding
the cycle of life. If you are interested in having questions answered
as to why you are here, what is your genuine purpose what really
makes you tick. If you are interested in engaging in a building
process that will take you far beyond what you think you know about
things, then you have come to the right place.
There is probably not one of us that would think
about a University without immediately wondering where it is physically
located and what type of programs it has to offer. The University
of Spirituality is an 'Island in the Sky' and exists to benefit
your personal pursuit of higher learning. You might envision the
island as floating about in the sky similar to the image depicted
on the home page. The island in the sky exisits in a multidimensional
capacity and is not restricted to the confines of time, space or
distance. Though invisible to the naked eye, it is instantly accessible
and highly mobile, as are you. In fact, you are much more mobile
than you might imagine when considering the potential of your soul
to reveal to you new ways of learning and also
transport you at will.
The University of Spirituality is also referred
to as a mystery school and although it is invisible and inaccessible
by the corporeal senses, such a mystery provides us with the opportunity
to enage in new and exciting experiences that we never before thought
possible. Students access these retreats while engaged in deep prayer
and meditation and some actually visit these retreats while sleeping
with the aid of angelic messenger escorts. The entire process occurs
at the soul level and is governed by the Holy Spirit. Interactive
learning occurs through direct telepathic or conscious transference,
a method of learning we’ll discuss shortly. In short, wherever
you are, the University of Spirituaity is in close
proximity. Though this may be a hard concept to grasp initially,
the more you meditate on it, the closer it will feel to your heart.
Some of you may have already visited the University
of Spirituality or other etheric retreat without realizing it, which
means that you may indeed already be enrolled in a school of higher
learning. For example, does your intuition seem sharper these days
coupled with a sense of calling to a higher purpose, even though
you may not be sure what that entails? Are your dream experiences
occurring more regularly and are they coupled with increased intensity
and clarity. Have you recently had dream experiences where you remembered
being engaged in a school type atmosphere? Did you awaken feeling
a strong intuitive sense that you actually participated in a classroom
activity of higher learning?
In order to enroll in the University of Spirituality,
you are more than welcome to browse around this web site and drink
in the various subject material offered. You are also more than
welcome to partake of our course, The Master
Within-Building Our New Home Within the House of God. Keep
in mind, however, that that while these measures are an important
step in the spiritual development process, the key commitment is
to open your heart and pledge to God your desire to learn through
His Light and begin playing your part in service to yourself and
humanity by helping to anchor the Kingdom of Heaven upon the Earth.
God is the principal of this university and the true essence of
God is an invisible spark of creativity within you.
The intention of the University of Spirituality
is to shed new light on the learning process. Do we not learn through
a variety of ways? Much of our learning comes through the traditional
high school and college avenue, on the job experience, and of course,
life experience itself. We learn by applying what we already know
to new situations we encounter in our everyday experiences. Let’s
take this one step higher. Though our learning takes place through
being exposed to a variety of environments, people, circumstances
and situations, where does it actually take place? Learning takes
place within our mind and heart through the internalization of experience.
True learning, actualization, inner fulfilment and reward occurs
within us. Is it possible to learn new things solely by attuning
one’s mind to the deep intuitive senses of the soul? Yes,
it is not only possible, but it is the most appropriate method of
learning about the nature of our spiritual being.
The University of Spirituality advocates a new method
of learning for the new millennium. You learn telepathically, through
waves of light or thought energy as received through close communion
with yourself. We refer to this method of learning as new, but there
is nothing new about it. Learning through telepathic communication
has always been available to us, but for the most part, we have
looked through external sensory perception instead of internal sensory
perception. This method of learning may sound like a simple task,
but it is not as easy as you might think. Bringing about peace in
the world requires bringing about peace within each individual first.
Bringing about peace within the individual means purifying the chaotic
maze of thoughts within the mind. Learning to let go of adverse,
negative thoughts, feelings and emotions is not something that can
be instantly accomplished. The task is a slow and painstaking process
of facing the many unexplored avenues within ourselves. We are referring
here to the process of spiritual transformation and while seemingly
long and demanding, its implications are far reaching. Volunteering
to play your part in the great process of global spiritual unfoldment
is the most important decision you’ll ever make for yourself
and your fellow brothers and sisters. By enrolling in the University
of Spirituality, you open yourself to unlimited universal knowledge.
You will receive all of the direction and guidance necessary to
expedite the process of self discovery, purpose and fulfill your
role in greater service to yourself and to humanity. In short, the
world needs active participation by
as many people as possible. Active participation
includes inner communion with God or the Holy Spirit, utilizing
the power of the spoken word, spiritually related exercises, self-education,
and a great variety of world service and goodwill activities.
While all of these activities are essential to the spiritual aspirant,
the choice definition we can provide for active participation is
a steadily expanding conscious awareness of
all things flowing through you. Active participation means
a lot of inner homework, but it is also an automatic process invoked
by your spirit when you allow it to perform its magical work within
you. The more people that volunteer to take an active role in bringing
about the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth, the more energy we feed to
the larger pool of the Holy Spirit and the more assistance we are
lending to the Christ and the Spiritual Hierarchy in bringing about
the Kingdom of God upon the Earth for all to enjoy. Imagine a world
where there are no wars, no violence, no anger, no hatred, no opposition
and no sickness or disease. Most important, imagine a world where
no one is ever lost to the greatest mystery of all...death. This
is what Peace on Earth is all about. It is a world that functions
on international cooperation and mutual respect for all life, including
all animals and the environment. The development of individual spirituality
is commonplace and immortality eventually reigns supreme. Sound
far fetched? Consider this. The world of spirituality is inevitable
and as such, so is a world of peace. With God, all things are possible.
We each have only to do our part and the healing process begins
with the conscious awareness of peace.
The University of Spirituality is available to everyone, regardless
of race, color, creed, sex or ethnic background. If you are poor,
you are welcome. If you are disabled, you are welcome. God is never
biased. If you exhibit bias toward others because of their race,
color, religious convictions, or for whatever reason, you are not
necessarily in the wrong place. Just leave your misconceptions along
with your ego at the door. Me versus you or us versus them is a
conditioned syndrome that has never produced positive human relations
in the past and will not in the future. The bottom line is that
all are welcome here and all should be welcome into your heart.
God teaches us just as we are, from within and inside we are all
the same. In other words, God teaches us through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is a blanket of divine energy and we are all a thread
in its fabric. The thread of energy is manifest within all of us.
There are no requirements or prerequisites for entry into this school
either and there is certainly no cost. In short, The University
of Spirituality is universal to all. We are not greater or lesser
than our fellow brothers or sisters because we hold greater or lesser
education credentials, wealth or status. The University of Spirituality
teaches its students the value of individual spirituality. The potential
of the individual spirit is limitless when properly developed in
accordance with the governance of the Holy Spirit.
The task at hand is to develop ourselves from an inner vantage point
and to incorporate this new found perception and practice with our
existing values and way of life. It makes no difference what those
values are. The unfoldment of our individual spirituality can only
compliment and enhance what we value most. The University of Spirituality
is not specific to any religion. To the prospective student who
takes things literally, we may appear to be Christian oriented,
but that is only if you immediately associate the name of Christ
with the Christian religion. This is not the case because we reference
teachings from a handful of books, sacred texts and a variety of
individuals who have traversed the arduous path of seeking the truth.
Our desire is for these concepts to be incorporated within all faiths.
We do not view any single faith as superceding other faiths. For
starters, the goal of the Christ and Her Disciples is the transformation
and upliftment of all peoples, regardless of their faith or belief
system. God does not deny equal opportunity for spiritual advancement
to anyone and neither do any of God's representatives. It doesn’t
matter what your spiritual beliefs or practices are, or if you have
none at all. As long as you exist on the Earth, you are subject
to the great influx of Spiritual Energy (Love) flooding the environment.
We’ll expand on this in later lessons. For now, we emphasize
again that, according to our philosophy, the more people that open
their hearts to the Principles of Universal Spirituality, the more
expeditious the movement to bring about the Kingdom of Heaven upon
the Earth.
Let’s briefly delve a bit deeper into the nature of the University
of Spirituality. A “University” is categorized as an
institution for higher learning. It’s composed of various
departments, such as a school for business, engineering, liberal
arts, music, health, architecture and the sciences. The University
of Spirituality houses departments also, however, the departments
consist of various schools of thought that all revolve around the
central theme of spirituality. Spirituality,
quite simply, is the quality or fact of being spiritual. We are
all spiritual beings, which is truth. Individual Spirituality is
the most important quality we have.
The University of Spirituality is, without a doubt, a school for
higher learning. More appropriately, it is a school for deeper learning
because the student must delve deep within the soul of his or her
being to learn. Engaging in the process of individual spiritual
development means that a person begins to come into what we call
spiritual maturity. Taking this a step
further in understanding, the unfoldment of spiritual maturity means
that you are acknowledging yourself as a child of God and have begun
the trek to becoming a full-fledged Son or Daughter of God. The
majority of the human race, is awakening to the idea that we are
not just children of our parents, but children of God, which makes
us all brothers and sisters. The time has come for us to take greater
responsibility for ourselves and the Earth and spiritual education
is the key.
Therefore, the intention of the University of Spirituality is to
educate each person about his or her individual spirituality according
to the following universal principles of understanding:
• Your individual spirituality is inherent
within you. You have always had it and you always will have it because
it is a quality bestowed by God.
• Your individual spirituality is an expression of your spirit.
Your spirit can also be referred to as your auric energy field.
• Your individual spirit is governed
by your soul and your soul is the source from which your life springs.
• You have the innate ability to experience
more fully the richness, love, light and exuberance of your spirit
merely by learning to bring it forth from within yourself.
• Facilitating the process of individual
spiritual development necessitates learning, understanding and accepting
the fact that your spirit lies within you. The focus of your attention,
communion and general awareness should be directed within you, especially
upon your heart, in order to stimulate the action of your spirit.
• The entire process entails the increased
vibratory motion of your auric energy field. This action is all
accomplished by focusing your thought energy upon God, the Holy
Spirit, the source of love and energy, within you, thereby stimulating
your soul.
The philosophy of the University of Spirituality
revolves around the central theme of Building Our New Home Within
the House of God. The home is where we sustain ourselves through
rest, sleep and nourishment. The home serves as the centralized
hub from where we conduct our private business, socialize and enjoy
our personal freedom. The home provides warmth from the cold, shelter
from rain and a place to retreat at days end. We decorate our home
according to our personal tastes and it’s where we store our
belongings. Most important, our home is a place we share with those
we cherish, including our animal friends.
While our conventional home is an archetypal portrait of ourselves
and a sacred place that expresses our energy, it is also limiting.
Our home is a materialistic structure that will not stand the test
of time. Oh it will last for many years, but sooner or later, it
will deteriorate and eventually crumble. Regardless of how much
you treasure your personal possessions, they too will follow the
same path and eventually crumble. At this juncture, a natural reaction
may be something along the lines of, “I’ll be long gone
by then so I won’t care what happens to my house or my possessions.”
The home we are referring to when we say Building
Our New Home Within the House of God is not a structure made
from wood, brick or metal, but a spiritual home, manifested directly
from within your being. More easily said, you are redefining and
renovating yourself to connect with a deeper sense of meaning, purpose
and understanding of life.
You already have the tools you need for building your new home.
God created them within each of us. We are born with the innate
abilities to feel, intuit, love, reason, desire and create. The
process of building requires focusing your attention on an area
of your reality which you are probably not normally accustomed.
In order to build a home from the invisible and seemingly empty
confines of your internal being, it is necessary to utilize your
tools by focusing them in an inward direction on your spirit and
soul. The entire building process revolves around focusing on our
heart, our center for love, while holding the earnest desire to
Know God More Fully.
The process of searching for the meaning of life through the pursuit
of spirituality begins our healing process, but it also gives rise
to our questions on the other side of the spectrum. We cannot embark
upon the quest for the meaning of life without considering the meaning
of death. Death seems to be an inescapable conclusion to life, but
is it inescapable or is it something we can overcome? Consider this.
If you could live forever, what do you think your mind set would
be like? What would you do and where would you go?
Death is not really the unknown that we believe it to be. Deep within
the subconscious mind, we know where the departure from the physical
arena of life takes us. The departure returns us to the place we
were prior to birth. We can’t consciously remember being there,
therefore, the fear of the unknown dominates our feelings.
We often define our humanity by our mortality. Such a perception
amounts to an accepted limitation. The idea that every man has his
time to die prevents us from reaching our highest spiritual potential.
Let’s break free of this concept and define our humanity by
our immortality, because with God, all things are possible.
Distinguishing between Christ
and Chrisianity
Since we have made reference to The Christ
and His Disciples, some folks may associate the University of Spirituality
with a religion and we wish to clear up any first impression you
may have along those lines. The University of Spirituality is not
associated with any religion, yet we embrace all religions. Religions
are ways in which we express our spirituality and spirituality is
the unspoken language we all have in common. Spirituality is the
relationship we develop between ourselves and God. This relationship
between God and ourselves is based on our individual perception,
experience and realization. The primary role of the University of
Spirituality is to educate students about spirituality from an individual
perspective. Our mission is also to help prepare for the return
of the Christ, but as a prospective student at this university,
we wish to enlighten you as to what this means, at least from our
position.
The return of the Christ is an expression with which many people
are familiar, but we here at the University do not perceive it as
waiting for some spectacular event to happen. Jesus and the Christ
are not the same thing. Jesus was the man through whom the Christ
expressed. Therefore, Christ or the Christ Consciousness is just
another way of expressing God, the Holy Spirit, Spirit, Divine Parent,
Universal Consciousness, or whatever divine ideal you establish
for yourself. The intention of the heart and spirit of goodness
matters most.
The return of the Christ is returning to a simpler way of life and
establishing a set of values in which everyone is respected and
encouraged to pursue independent thinking and individual creativity.
Most important, the return of the Christ translates into each and
every individual awakening to the truth that the Spirit of God is
inherent within us. Each of us has the ability to reach our highest
spiritual potential. This is a divine right that applies to everyone.
In this respect, The University of Spirituality does not view people
in terms of Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, Liberal, Democrat,
Republican, etc. We do not categorize people according to color,
ethnic background, sex, creed or other characteristics. Many people
feel the need to be identified with a larger group or organization
and if a student chooses to identify him or herself in this way,
so be it. We are all brothers and sisters of one common bond. We
do not view anyone as greater or lesser than anyone else. Rather,
we see all people as having equal potential and our hope is for
the more fortunate to help the less fortunate. The Earth is one
global community and our mission is to facilitate this concept.
As you develop yourself spiritually, a better understanding of yourself
and your relationship with others will begin to unfold. Then you
will be better able to help pave the way for positive change in
the world.
Spiritual expression is individual, based on each person’s
special talents and perceptions. Spirituality cannot be bestowed
on another person, but must be developed from within. As each of
us changes our way of perceiving and relating to the world and all
beings that are part of it, the world begins to change. The world
is a reflection of us. When we change our inner selves, the outer
world changes with us, our thoughts, words and actions are in harmony
with each other, then all that we are and all that we do makes up
our spirituality.
Spirituality is the language of the heart and soul. Spirituality
is not confined to any religion. If Christianity, Buddhism, Islam
or Confucianism works for you, so be it. If worshiping a saint works
for you, so be it. The philosophy behind spirituality means rising
above identifying with names and labels. Many people feel the need
to be led by the doctrine of a larger organizational movement. However,
it is wise to seriously ask yourself a few questions. What are you
really following? Are you following what someone else believes to
be true or following your heart and what feels right? Are you being
led by your fears or a sense of love and inner peace? What is your
focus of attention when engaged in meditation, prayer and inner
communion? The University of Spirituality focuses on the individual
spirit with the larger, Holy Spirit of God, as expressed through
feeling, intuition and knowledge acquired directly through the heart.
If you want to come to know God more fully, let go of your preconceived
opinions and ideas about people and the world and keep an open mind.
Allow unconditional love to flow through you. Take from these writings
what feels right to you and feel free to leave the rest. Embrace
your cultural and religious belief systems, but don't allow them
to be a barrier to your spiritual development.
The Guru-Self
The University of Spirituality looks at the concept
of the guru/disciple relationship in a new light. The guru is defined
as a wise sage who assumes the task of teaching spiritual truths
to a disciple. A disciple is a follower or student
of another. The precept of the University of Spirituality is that
the student is a disciple aspiring to be his or her own guru. Students
learn to follow the inner guidance system of their soul. The inner
guidance system is centered in the heart. The primary function of
the student is to listen, absorb, decipher, discern and create utilizing
a new method of learning through this inner guidance system. The
University of Spirituality promotes this new system of inner learning
as the Guru-Self or Self-Guru.
The train of thought among many people is that figures such as Jesus,
Buddha, Shri Krishna, Mohammed and Paramahansa Yogananda are members
of an elite group whom God chose for a specific task. Many try to
emulate these figures, but deep in their hearts accept the limitation
that they could never accomplish as much. Such beliefs are just
that, beliefs. They are based on a self-imposed judgement that one
is not good enough and doesn’t have what it takes to attain
the heights of perceived greatness and immortality. These figures
once walked the physical plane of Earthly life just as you and I.
There have been others as well. The main point is that these figures
are not untouchable saints, but rather examples of what every man
and woman is capable of achieving. These figures developed their
individual spirituality to the highest degree and you can do the
same. Remember that in the eyes of God, all are created with equal
potential. It is completely up to you to exercise that potential
using your God given free will. Your potential is found within your
spirituality.
In this respect, let’s attempt to redefine the nature of the
traditional guru-disciple relationship. There are many seekers of
spiritual truths who would like nothing more than to have their
very own guru, especially during the initial stages of self-discovery
after learning about the gurus that some other seekers have had.
This sort of one on one guru-disciple relationship is nothing less
than wonderful if one is fortunate enough to find it, but it is
unrealistic, impractical and more fantasy driven than anything else.
There are simply no where near the number of gurus available for
the number of prospective students interested in spiritual truth.
Therefore, it is necessary to examine the guru-disciple relationship
from a different perspective. Instead of looking to someone or something
to teach you, consider the idea that you are your own best teacher.
You can and do learn a great deal from someone else (a teacher)
and something else (books & life experience), but does not the
true learning experience occur within the perceptual reality of
each individual? Buddha sat under a tree and went within until he
reached enlightenment. The University of Spirituality teaches the
principle that the individual is both a teacher and a student. In
other words, you are both a guru and a disciple. Such a relationship
already exists within you. The guru is the spirit within you whose
job it is to teach the disciple in you that longs to learn. Think
of your guru teacher as your soul. It really doesn’t matter
how you perceive your soul teacher, only that you approach the endeavor
with an open mind and receptive heart. There are basically two steps
in implementing the teaching process. First, acknowledge and accept
that this relationship exists within the confines of the new home
you are building (YOU). Second, learn to trust in the unseen part
of you, the higher consciousness within you that knows your potential
and what you must do in order to exercise that potential. The soul,
through the Love of the Holy Spirit, is a high powered leader who
leads you through continuous expanding awareness of self while traversing
one plateau after another. In short, the soul teaches you to lead
yourself through renewed self-confidence, discipline, self-responsibility
and self-reliance.
In the traditional guru-disciple relationship, the guru often requires
the disciple to undergo lengthy periods of silence, service orientated
work, and other rigorous tests that are demanding on both the mind
and physical body of the disciple. The very same tests will come
about from a deep inner connection with the soul. Sound hard to
believe? Many people would question the idea that there is a hidden
part of us that can guide us through life. We say ‘can guide
us’ because we must allow this guidance to occur of our own
free will. The problem in relying on this guidance is when we go
through the myriad of obstacles in life, especially accidents, injuries,
heartbreaking relationships, and other unfortunate circumstances
that we experience in life. Whether one chooses to accept this guidance
or not is another matter. The truth is that the soul is always guiding
us through life’s mishaps, but since the average person considers
a mishap a mistake that wasn’t supposed to happen, they would
be less apt to acknowledge the soul’s inner guidance, much
less trust themselves. Think about it. Aren’t accidents and
other mishaps, including those inflicting heavy trauma, a wake up
call for self-examination? The disparity between believing and not
believing in the guidance of the soul boils down to sincere faith
and trusting fully in oneself. In other words, you cannot trust
one part of you and not trust another part because it is all the
same. It is the same perception, the same consciousness and the
same home you are building. Yes, a duality does exist in you, however,
it is our intention to help you close the gap of self-opposition
and enlighten your understanding as to why you feel, for example,
love one moment and anger the next. You must be willing to accept
the myriad of diverse experiences life serves you. In fact, it is
not so much the good experiences or the bad experiences that make
you wiser in life. It is the experience itself, how you deal with
it, and what you learn from it that imparts wisdom.
We are not creating the impression that you will not have a guru
because everyone has a guru. Millions of people ask God for spiritual
guidance daily through a saintly figure, guru or whatever their
individual perception is of ‘reaching for the divine.’
The main point here is that regardless of who your guru is, he or
she is not going to be around, at least not in the capacity you
are accustomed. This means that as a earnest seeker of spiritual
truth, you have no choice but to place all of your trust, devotion
and hope in the divine compass of your spirit and soul. Let’s
face it, if you want to learn about spirituality, what better place
to learn than from the heart of your own spirit.
Jesus had no guru. Is not His guru...God? Mahatma Gandhi had no
guru. His guru is God. Mother Teresa had no guru either. Her guru
is God. These spiritual leaders maintained a deep bond of trust
with the Spirit of God. They all experienced difficult times, but
through the trials and tribulations trusted fully in the God given
spiritual guidance inherent within them. You have the same ability.
You only have to learn to trust fully in the new found guru-disciple
relationship and friendship with your soul. Remember
to reach not out for the divine, but reach in and touch someone.
Distractions
In the quest for the deeper meaning of life we
sometimes forget to take quality time for ourselves, for deep inner
reflection and to put the events of our lives into proper perspective.
We often become sidetracked by numerous distractions on the path
to spirituality. We often identify the tool for developing certain
attributes with spirituality, rather than seeing it as a device
we can utilize if it helps us grow and later discard when we realize
we need nothing outside of ourselves. Rune stones, crystals and
astrological readings can be useful or they can bog us down if we
put our faith in them instead of ourselves. Some of the distractions
on the path fall under the category of symbology or “things
that represent other things.” As prospective students of spirituality,
we don’t want to be overly concerned with things that represent
things, such as receiving symbolic messages and visions. Symbology
often plays a role along the path of self-discovery, but after a
time deciphering the meaning of symbolic puzzle pieces related our
spirituality tends to keep us revolving in an endless circle that
produces more questions than answers. We are not searching for messages
and visions related to one’s spirituality. Unification with
the spirit itself is what is ultimately sought. In other words,
a vision of yourself being healed is no substitute for healing itself.
Imagining yourself gliding through the air like the free spirit
of the bird is no substitute for actually lifting off.
The spiritual development process, in true fashion, is a journey
of self-examination and self-analysis that leads to self-discovery
and self-realization. Your fate is entirely within your spirit.
Aside from a meal, a bath, and a bed, you need only an open mind,
heart, and a willingness to receive the gifts of spirit that are
freely available. Expanded self-awareness is something you cannot
put a price on and your awareness will expand exponentially when
you allow it to gently unfold.
Spirituality for the Dedicated
Student
The University of Spirituality extends an open
invitation to all prospective students, but it is important to acknowledge
that reading through all of the information contained on this web
site and the corresponding three volume course constitutes learning
through an external, objective perspective. Since our incarnation
into the physical world, the main thrust of our learning comes through
the physical sensory receptors of sight, sound, taste, smell and
touch. Although we assimilate this knowledge internally, we take
it in from an external vantage point which is, in our case, reading.
This method of learning is indirect or second hand knowledge. One,
if not perhaps the most important keys to learning and making satisfactory
progress in matters of spirituality is understanding the following
insight.
Words are one thing.
Experience is yet another.
Enrolling in any pursuit of educational self-improvement
necessitates doing the homework and the University of Spirituality
is no exception. In order to make satisfactory progress, you must
do the homework. Homework entails engaging in prayer, meditation,
communion and a variety of activities, including service work, to
stimulate greater action of the spirit within you. Building a New
Home Within the House of God requires engaging in a lot of homework.
The homework will not only expand your spirit and perceptual awareness,
but reveal to you the most important skill of the journey,
experiential proficiency. Reading is one thing. Experience
is yet another. What you learn through the soul constitutes direct
or first hand knowledge. It is learning from an internal, intuitive
perspective and is designed exclusively for you. The bottom line
is this. The most common character trait of a guru is wisdom. The
disciple is the student learning wisdom. You can read about spiritually
related matters until well after the cows come home. This endeavor
gives you some wisdom, but doesn’t give you the experience
to support and truly understand the knowledge you have learned intellectually.
Only actively engaging in the homework gives you the practical experience
necessary that correlates with what is learned intellectually, thereby
allowing the wisdom of your soul guru to shine through.
Your inner spirit will guide you through all of these activities.
You merely have to open up, learn to intuitively listen, and develop
a bond of trust in the internal guidance system of the soul. You
must take the initiative to begin the process of spiritual development
and then discipline yourself to follow through with your commitment
no matter what obstacles you will face. You will expand upon attributes
you already have and develop new ones as well. One attribute that
will definitely be expanded is patience. If you don’t have
much patience now, you will develop it as you grow spiritually.
Though we have cyber classrooms here, the real classroom is of your
own choosing. You choose the time and place. The real classroom
is within your mind, where the changes occur through your communal
practices and life experience. You are the one who will apply the
knowledge you gain internally to your life situations. You are the
builder adding a new block to your foundation daily. You are the
chef adding a new spice to your life daily. You are the dreamer
who makes the dream come true. You are the one setting the goal
who sees it through to completion.
As a prospective student, you may not immediately resonate with
these teachings. If you find that you cannot relate to the teachings
presented here, please don’t let this deter you from exploring
your individual spirituality from other sources. These teachings
are meant to rekindle that spark that helps you to remember things
about yourself that you have long forgotten. It is the dawning of
a new age and it is time for you to awaken to a new and revitalized
you with expanded vision, purpose and reason for being.
Spirituality is not something for another time, another place, nor
is it something for the afterlife. Spirituality is for the here
and now. Spirituality strengthens qualities you already possess
and kindles the fire of other qualities hidden waiting to surface.
Self-reliance, responsibility, discipline, compassion and patience
all become enhanced. Motivation is also spurred to do something
new and creative with your life or expand on existing projects and
activities. If you want to feel better about yourself, improve yourself,
and understand your life’s purpose, then get to know your
inner spirit. Your spirit is an integral part of you and only on
rare occasions have you acknowledged its existence or become aware
of its presence. Your spirit is a friend with whom you’ve
lost touch. Your friend longs to surface and teach you all about
yourself from a place only you can know. All you have to do is reach
in and touch it.
As we are nearing the end of our orientation session for the new
prospective student of spirituality, consider the following words.
We are not trying to indoctrinate you with a particular view of
spirituality. We are not trying to sell you in a round about way
salvation through Jesus or “The Son of God.” There is
no one that is going to save you because there is nothing that you
need to be saved from except the perceived limitations and illusionary
barriers you have placed on your own mind through eons of conditioning.
You are the one who must save yourself and sooner or later, whether
it be in this life or the next, you will come into this realization.
We are here to help you understand and pursue the ideal that you
already are a Son or Daughter of God. Since you are Building a Home
Within the House of God, think of it not only as making long term
mortgage payments, but rather as a long term investment in yourself
receiving continous benefits directly from God in the form of healing,
wholeness, expanded awareness and seeing more clearly that the Kingdom
of Heaven is much closer than you think.
The steps through spiritual maturity are long and arduous because
it is a journey of intense self-examination, an expanded version
of the journey of life experience that you are already on. You have
the ability to experience your unrealized potential and fulfill
your journey with a revitalized sense of joy and prosperity. The
journey to divine sonship or daughtership is the eventual destiny
of every man and every woman. The question is whether or not it
is your time to undertake the journey. Then again, escaping from
the illusionary constraints of time, you have nothing but time to
experience the journey. Remember two things.
One, if you put your mind to it, you can accomplish anything because
God created all of us with equal potential. Two, always remember
that with God, all things are possible.
Revisiting our first few paragraphs of this orientation,
the idea of individual spirituality as a means of self-discovery
and self-growth is a model example of creative inspiration. The
theme of global spirituality and you playing a decisive role in
its unfoldment carries even greater implications. In this respect,
the University of Spirituality is much more than an etheric retreat
or an abstract depiction of an island in the sky because individual
spirituality serves as a paradigm for global peace.
Lastly, just as we are Building Our New Home Within
the House of God, we are also Building the University of Spirituality
Within the House of God. Therefore, the University of Spirituality
is a construction in progress. If you like what you have seen and
learned after attending the initial wing of classrooms, let us know.
Share with us and share with others your thoughts and interests.
There is much more to come.
